Depends on how old this fan is. However they're usually clips, probably two, because the fan is small that you pull up to release fan gage. Only front part of cage is removable. Once clips are pulled up you might have to pull a bit to get the gage off depending on how long the gage has been on. Clean blades and gage with soap and water with a rag. You don't want to use spray and get any on the motor.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to clean my fans too.

There should be a method for opening the cage. Make sure the fan is unplugged, then remove the front of the cage, and wipe the blades with a moist cloth, front and back carefully, then re-assemble in the reverse order of how you disassembled the fan.

if you run your fingers along the middle line(where two haves of the cage meet) you will find some push locks /latches/clips/ whatever you call that keeps the cage together.pull them out (may have-to put some oil"any oil"on them. and take the front half apart and use soapy wet cotton cloth to clean then dry the fan blades with a clean dry cotton cloth.

some might come screwed together with Philips screws

you will find that there is a clip holding the back of the safety cage which hold the two halves together, get a screwdriver and force the clip upwards, and you will find that the cage will seperate, you can then clean the blades, make sure it is unplugged before you start, good luck

1.Unplug your oscillating round fan from the wall.

2.Either use a Philips head screwdriver to unscrew the front grille from the back grille; or, push grille clips off front grille, depending on your oscillating round fan, and take it off.

3.Unscrew the blade cap from the blade and take it off.

4.Slide the fan blade off.

5.Unscrew the back grille nut from the back grille and take it off.

6.Slide the back grille off.

7.Use a bottle of liquid hand soap and warm water on each fan part to clean it or run fan parts through a dishwasher.

8.Set each cleaned part on a hand towel and allow about 10 minutes for each fan part to dry.

9.Follow the disassemble instructions given above in reverse to reassemble the fan.

10.Plug your cleaned oscillating round fan in and turn it on. It should be quieter and cleaner than before. If it is not, try the steps above again until totally clean.
