I have to do a science fair project about which material makes the best sound barrier.I have to test 3 different materials by making a closed box and putting a speaker inside and record from the outside.I'm very confused on what type of materials i can use like cardboard or something?Any help would be appreciated posted this before and got a answer that didnt really make sense.

Google to find out what they make speaker cabinets out of, and try a range of the cheaper materials. I doubt you'll be expected to spend a lot of money. It will only be a fair test if all boxes are the same shape and

thickness, and are constructed in the same way. For instance, you could make a really good box from concrete or clay, but that wouldn't be the same as joining flat sides to one another. And you'll have to use the same speaker and an amplifier on the same volume setting.

ask at home depot as I think there is a special soundproofing material (it might come in squares though).

I've heard foam works well, and you could maybe get a plywood box for one, and maybe you could do a metal box or something. Be creative.
