Go to the doctor and get a cortosone shot.



If you don't have the money for that you can do the following:



1. Use pleanty of rubbing alcohol with the highest concentration.



2. Take an oatmeal bath to take away the itching.



3. Buy some anti-itch or hydrocortosone topical cream, apply to the area.



4. Keep covered. If it is a large area, you should use a gauze pad on top of the cream, then, wrap entire area with an ace bandage. This will suffucate the area.



Most importantly, do not scratch it open. Scratching it open will cause it to spread.

I have been called "crazy" for this remedy, but it has worked for me. Take a piece of bread pinch it around the topmost leaves on the vine. Rip it off, put it in your mouth making sure that your lips do not touch the leaves. Chew it thoroughly and swallow. People say that poisons you on the inside. Well, that's possible if the lining of your esophagus is messed up. But that's what's in the poison ivy pills: ground-up poison ivy leaves. To keep it away, I eat the top most leaves of a plant every four weeks. After eating it the first time, I can handle it and never get an outbreak. Not only that, if I get a mosquito or deerfly bite, they heal quicker and it doesn't itch while it heals.

Go to the doctor and get a nice 'ole shot! Other wise sometimes scratching open and rubbing bleach on works. If you want it gone quickly though your best bet is a shot!

Swimming in chlorinated water, diluted bleach, alcohol, and the sun helps dry it out also.....you can take benedryl to help with the itch in the meantime. and then there's prednisone if you wanna go to the doctor, which has saved me many a time cuz i always manage to get it on my face. Just be sure you take it as directed!!!!
