Husband and I just Purchased a home with a beautiful oak front door and a side panel on each side. The middle of the door is really beautiful stained glass and the side panels also have the matching stained glass. It is gorgous and rare. Well it was recently broken into and the left panel was broken to unlock the door. Right now there is just a piece of clear glass replacing the left panel. We need to find a way to do something to make all the glass match. Hubby would like something where there could be privacy or some kind of blinds, ect. He doesn’t like how someone could come at night and look in. Im at a loss of how to fix this. It was suggested that we replace the glass with a panel of oak wood and stain it but it would really darken the entry way. ANY suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to ANY hobby shop and look for "fake" stained glass paint. It can be mixed to match ANY color. Pick up an instruction book.

Here's one brand: http://www.plaidonline.com/gallery-glass/brand/home.htm

First of all I would change the kind of lock that you have on your front door, if you do not want to have a burglar alarm installed. There are the kind of locks, which I have, that are a double bolt and you have to lock the door with a key from the inside as well as the outside. I then have a place near the door that I keep the key so I can open it when I need to. Now for the privacy issue. You can get these beautiful self adhesive (removable) plastic sheets that cover any window size. They can be bought a Home Depot or on-line. You just put it over your clear glass and can even get some that looked like stained glass or just frosted to let the light in. You will probably have to remove to other side panel to match, but maybe you could use it somewhere else. like hanging in the yard or on a wall inside. Good luck to you and sorry about the break in.

You can install a window blind. There are different types of blinds you can go for. Choose one which you like. Hope that helps!
