Hey guys, i have seen these lights in military bathrooms. When you walk in the fluroscent lights turn themselves on, when no one is there for a few minutes they switch themselves off.

My old folks always forget to switch off lights and this wastes electricity, so ideally we need some sort of automatic lights that switch themselves off and i can't be around all the time to remind them.

So can any electricians tell me or recommend a DIY thing? The light stores in Singapore have no idea what the heck i am talking about when i say i want to buy or make automatic lights. Hope other people can help me, given the level of environmental publicity campaigns, i would think everyone would be into this.

Cheers mates.

Replace your switch with a motion censor switch. Lamp stores will not carry them. Find a hardware store or an electrical supply house. Also you will be able to get a snecer for the ceiling the better ones are hard wired but you can get a remote sencer. Not sure if you can find one in singapore though.

properly thank you for the comments so some distance all. I even have low voltage fittings which use MR16 bulbs and that i offered transformers that are dimmable. inspite of the undeniable fact that i'd desire to have have been given fairly some the sunshine swap's incorrect. i presumed all you do is upload up the total Watt for the variety of lighting fixtures fixtures you have and then get a dimmer swap which has a Watt score above that. e.g. For 4 x 50 Watt I even have used 250 Watt dimmer modules. And for 6 x 50 Watt I even have use a 4 hundred Watt dimmer module. They do hum I even have observed inspite of the undeniable fact that somebody suggested to me that as quickly as you dim the lighting fixtures fixtures the adaptation in power is basically used up by using the dimmer module subsequently why it gets warm! i will seem at Toolstation ( who I even have used a lot in this undertaking) yet i did no longer understand that this transformation into so complecated in any respect. i presumed dimming the lighting fixtures fixtures might shop electrical energy undeniable and straightforward. yet issues by no ability seem to be so straight forward as you may assume :) thank you so some distance all!

I've seen a few solutions that require no wiring, might be fastest and easiest way to get the job done.

Have a look at the site below.

The easiest solution would be to replace the wall switches with timer type switches. They should be readily available.
