How do you remove bitumen paint from a wall?

The lower 6 inches of my house wall has been painted with bitumen. I want to remove it, so I can repair cracks at the base of the wall with cement.

I've tried: -- paint stripper, but it only takes off a fraction of the amount; a wire brush on a drill hardly touches it; a heat gun does nothing either.

Any suggestions please?

If its old bitumen paint it probably will not come off with anything less than sand blasting or if you're lucky a very stiff rotary wire brush on high-speed drill may do the job.

A heat gun, but don't cook the paint on to the wall..You just give it the gentlest of heating to get it off, you over heat it the paint becomes sticky and you will never shift it.. Do not hold the heat gun to close to the wall, trial and error you will see it work, gentle heat keep it back and off it goes...

if you believe your first two answers then you probably believe in the tooth fairy ...where are they coming from ?? have they actually tried it ? ..truth is sandblasting it is about the only way to remove it ..try heating it and it will spread ..gently chipping it with a scutch sometimes works
