My fiance and I just bought our house and we don't have tons of cash to spend on a king size bed frame. And we're both kinda having a creative block, so nothing we draw that would be cheap looks good. Any ideas would be freakin' great.

Get 20 plastic milk crates - arrange on the floor in 5 rows
Lay two 2"X4" over eack row (10 pcs)
add 2 to 4 pieces of Plywood (depending how wide you want it)
Cover plywood with carpet or old blanket - add mattress
(you can subsitute crates with cinder blocks)

I made a platform for my bed in college out of plywood and put braces in the corners for support. At first I painted it, then I decoupaged some really cool zebra wrapping paper over that and then I covered it in fabric. I made the base a little smaller than the top part that the mattress was on for toe clearance for making the bed and made a little rim aound the edge with molding. The hole thing cost me under $50.

Get up early on Saturday morning and go to garage sales.
Every thing you need is there and cheap, a bed your looking for $20 maybe a little more, I have found some really nice things. As time goes buy and you can afford what you want, recycle and have your own sale!

You could probably get a used water-bed frame very cheap - we did that for a while and our mattress fit right in it.
